If you really look for it you will find the following prices on the web not directly through shipyards but mainly through brokers or general boats sales websites. CATANA 87 – ORION

October 2, 2007

I found this video of the building of the largest CATANA up to date the CATANA 87- “ORION“. It show how the hulls are built using female moulds and state of the art technology. ORION belongs to the custom range of CATANA catamarans. This shipyard has been famous for building safe and seaworthy catamarans from 43 to 65 foot. One of their customer rounded the world with a 58 and asked for a larger easy to sail catamaran. Designed by Christophe Barreau the CATANA are fast and reliable blue water catamarans. One CATANA’s website you will find a lot information on their philosophy as well as logbooks and links to catana owners websites.

ALCYON 120′

September 26, 2007

Let me introduce the Alcyon SC 120, a very sharp looking and spacious luxury megacatamaran. This catamaran offers really large relaxing and living spaces with a 80 m² “terrasse on the ocean”, a 70 m² flybridge and 220m² of interior accomodations. Made in composite and carbon for performance the layout can be customized according to the client wishes.

If you look at the renderings of the interior layout the owner’s suite (on Alcyon’s website) is located on the platform with a magnificent view on the outside. It features a king size bed, a desk and a sofa, and a private access to a huge bathroom in the portside hull. Guests and crews all have independent access to their suites via the salon. The option of the galley down leaves a lot of space available in the salon for the guests intertainment.

Managed by Paul Renaud, ALCYON is a boat design studio located in the south of France near Saint Tropez. They have also designed a 50 foot power catamaran with a great look. They are very talented in producing virtual images really close to reality just have the look at the website, it is amazing. ALCYON can take in charge a complete project from defining the project to designing the boat and following up the construction.

The Alcyon 120 production will start by the end of the year in a shipyard yet undisclosed (the choice will be made in the month of October).

Below an image of the new 50 open.

This 67 ‘ power catamaran will be the first built by Sunreef and will be launched in autumn 2007. She will be available in three versions : charter, semi-owner and owner. Powered by twin 870 HP engines, she will reach a maximum speed of 30 knots but more interesting the first unit for a private customer, planning a round the world voyage with his family, will have a 3000 nautical miles ranges cruising at 8 knots. Built using the resin-infusion proces, she will features an exceptional livings space of over 500 square feet, as well as a giant fly-brigde. The furniture on the flybridge will be easily dismantled to offer a large playground for the kids.

With her quite agressive look, styled by luxury yacht designer Denn Clifford, the flybridge features the main helm station, sun-bathing matresses and a dining table with comfortable seating. The cockipt is well sheltered from the sun and opens on a modern design salon with an elegant lounge bar area.

The cabines located in the forward section, offer wonderful views on the sea as you can see on the rendering. The shipyard is also offering a 60 foot and 78 foot version of this great looking power catamaran. For more information please get in touch with Ewa Stachurska, ewa@sunreef-yachts.com

Synergie Yachting offers solutions to the ownership of catamarans. They provide services such as delivery, crew placement, charter preparation and can act as consultants in all the issues related to catamaran ownership. They are also offering the Synergy Fractionnal Ownership program. After the real estate, the plane industries many of these programs are being developed in the yachting industry. They enable an owner to own part of a yacht for part of the cost and “none of the troubles” since the yacht is managed by a third party. The directors of Synergy, Phil Scott and Tom Ashwell, have a 15 years experience in sailing, building and managing catamaran. For their Fractionnal ownership program they have selected well built and valuable catamarans such as the Lagoon 57, Privilege 585 and Privilege 745 (picture below). They have also worked with VPLP design on the Synergie 88 as they write on their website “Our Synergy fleet needed a flagship and we realised that the only way to own the ultimate catamaran was to specify, design and build it in-house using major players in the industry. We want the best looking, fastest and most luxurious catamaran we can get, and being the highest level of synergy ownership, we don’t have to compromise. Nothing will be overlooked, the bespoke Synergy 88 will simply be the best.” The Synergie 88 has been designed specially to serve their Synergie Global Yacht club project. In this program a fleet of three or more catamarans will sail the world offering the clients the opportunity to sail through a range of worldwide destinations or to unite the catamarans for booking or special event.
Synergy website is great, full of beautiful pictures and provides very clear information. On the download page you will find pdf format brochure of all their services and programs.

HH 100- CATA-RINA

August 29, 2007

I found this 100 foot luxury catamaran being built at the ALUMARINE shipyard in France. Looking at the drawing on the ALUMARINE website I saw this catamaran was another (again) VPLP yacht design so I looked up on their website and found the same 3d’s with the same layout for a project name Cata-Rina. So I guess they are the same yacht and I hope I am not doing a mistmake. If you know more let me know. Alumarine is a shipyard with 20 years experience in building yachts and also dry docks, and working ships. In the yachting business they are famous for having built DOUCE FRANCE the largest cruising catamaran ever built so far and still a reference. Another guess : HH 100 stands for Highest Honour 100, in the ligne of HH 1 and 2 which were also VPLP designs and launched in 1991 (one of them being actually named LONESTAR, still in charter and refited in 2005). I will call the yacht CATA-RINA. This yacht is currently under construction for a private client. As it is described on VPLP yacht design website all the maneuvers are directed toward the flybridge. With her huge mast, her 400 m² sail area and VPLP design she should be a fast yacht. CATA-RINA will feature one owner and a VIP cabin with private access to the salon and cockpit. A complete hull is reserved to the crew and the Galley. The relaxing space in the salon, the cockpit, and the flybridge is huge. She will be certified MCA and Bureau Veritas. I hope we will know more about his yacht once it is launched.
